How about a monorail?

Monorail from nineelms

One cost effective alternative to extending the Northern Line has just been proposed by Lambeth’s Lib Dem Councillors. It would be an automated monorail train from Waterloo, similar to the DLR.  A description of the plans is on their website here:http://lambethlibdems.org.uk/en/article/2013/654613/comment-ditch-nle-think-dlr

The Evening Standard picked up on the idea this evening:http://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/build-monorail-to-serve-nine-elms-8472267.html

What do Kennington Residents think about these plans? Many of us are in Southwark, and will bear the brunt of the proposed NLE with no benefit, including the destruction of green space in our park. What do Southwark councillors think about TfL’s plans?

It makes much more sense to have a straight route along the river above ground than to detour in a huge curve south with a tunnel that has to cover a much greater distance, runs through residential areas, only has two stops and brings no benefits to the people will suffer most from years of construction work.
